While truthfully it doesn't rain much more in Seattle than in many other American cities, this is a place that is known for its days without the sun. But that doesn't mean you have to stay in the house and wait for brighter days to enjoy the city. There are lots of ways to stay busy and entertained on a rainy day in Seattle. Whether you're packing up the cloth diapers and heading out with the kids or looking for a unique date idea, here are some fun things to do in Seattle.

Take in one of Seattle's museums. It doesn't matter if you're a fan on aviation or rock and roll; there is a museum for you in Seattle. The Children's Museum is 22,000 square feet of fun for babies all the way up to tweens, while the Seattle Art Museum has everything from works of some of history's greatest artists to examples of some of the city's newest emerging talents. And you don't need to cash in your gold bullion bars to enjoy a day at the museum. Some even have days where admission is free.

If you're up for some sightseeing there are still options even if you don't want to spend the whole day outside. While you may wait for a better day to do a cruise or seaplane ride, you can still experience the view from the Space Needle or go on the Underground Tour. Much of the city's history is now under the surface and you can see it all in a guided 90-minute tour. Instead of spending your day shopping for another women's sweater, you can see where Seattle really began or exactly what it all looks like today.

Take in dinner and a show. This is the classic night out and it's not hampered at all by a rainy day. Websites like ChefSeattle.com can help you locate a new restaurant in the city you've never tried before and then you can experience one of the city's many performances. Instead of spending your evening cleaning out the fish tank filter you can check out companies like Seattle Repertory Theatre or see a Broadway hit at the Paramount.

Check out who's in town. Whether you're in the mood to see one of the country's top musical artists or interested in spending the afternoon at a trade show, there is always something new going on in Seattle. There are also many festivals and events that happen annually throughout the city. Check out who's coming to Showbox at the Market or maybe you can find a new custom license plate frame at a car show at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. Don't just settle for the same old things in Seattle. There is always something new to do and see in Seattle, even on the gloomiest of days!
